Royal Ballet comes to Cornwall

Birmingham Royal Ballet returns to Cornwall this month, performing an illuminating mix of works that showcase the splendour of dance itself.

The programme includes Kenneth MacMillan’s Solitaire, a game for a girl and her dancers, set to composer Malcolm Arnold’s English Dances. Then comes David Bintley’s witty Four Scottish Dances and Frederick Ashton’s mesmerising Monotones II, an extended pas de trois set to music by Erik Satie. Finally, Hans van Manen’s Five Tangos, which translates Astor Piazzolla’s fiery and passionate Argentinian music into passionate tango movement.

This thrilling programme of four ballets showcases the versatility and virtuosity of the company’s world-class dancers and features live accompaniment by the acclaimed Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

The shows take place at the Hall for Cornwall on Tuesday May 17 and Wednesday May 18. See www.hallforcornwall.co.uk for ticket information and performance times.
