Railway gets young people on right track

Helston Railway is holding a Junior’s Day this weekend as an opportunity for young people to find out more about the railway and play a part in its restoration.

The scheme provides a regular schedule for young people to help with construction, engineering, painting and maintenance work at the railway.

Helston Railway Training Manager Paul Hawken said: “The idea behind this is to develop the young people’s skills and experience base, as well as looking at the long-term future of the railway and bringing the next generation of Heritage Railway Volunteers through the ranks.”

The next Junior’s Day is on Saturday from 9pm to 3pm at Trevarno Farm near Helston. For more information contact paul@helstonrailway.co.uk.
