New family-owned deli has eco-friendly focus

A mother and daughter have teamed up to open an ethical deli promoting local food producers in Mullion.

Elaine and Hayley Kaye opened the doors to Colroger Deli at Lender Lane to offer quality Cornish and regional produce while making a conscious effort to have as little impact on the environment as possible.

Aside from their eco-conscious credentials, the enterprising duo’s fresh produce counter stocks cheeses and cooked meats along with award-winning artisan air dried charcuteries and a variety of Cornish artisan oils, dressings, sauces, chutneys, jams, honey, olives and ice creams. Multi-award-winning Cornish skincare products and a small selection of ‘free from’ produce is also available.

Elaine said: “Being situated within the beautiful village of Mullion, we see the impact that plastics are having on our oceans and marine life. So we decided to only offer food service packaging made from compostable and eco-friendly materials rather than cheaper but more harmful plastic alternatives.”

Hayley added: “We offer ready-to-eat food prepared on the premises including a range of quiches, sausage rolls, pasta and salad dishes which can be eaten in or taken away. Lunch service is from 11am to 3pm and during the warmer months we are serving fresh sandwiches, salad plates and charcuterie platters. Why not check out our current lunch menu on our website or through our Facebook page and see what else we offer? Cream teas, homemade cakes, biscuits and snacks are available all day and we welcome dogs on leads. We hope to see you soon!”
