HELSTON’S Town Mayor is lending her support to a charity appeal by asking the people of Helston to fill shoeboxes with gifts and essentials for families in need this Christmas.
Councillor Gillian Geer is supporting the The Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal which has helped deliver smiles to thousands of people across Eastern Europe for the last 25 years. Shoeboxes of gifts are given to families and the elderly who often have to make a choice between buying food or fuel. Many families do not have running water, heating or electricity and live in difficult conditions all year round. Suggested items include shower gel, shampoo, family games, stationary, sweets, soft toys, hats and scarves.
Shoeboxes can be dropped off at Gillian’s Larder in Menegae Street or the Guildhall (open weekdays 9 – 4pm) before November 9.
