An iconic Helston jeweller has reason to celebrate as the next family generation joins the business.
Wearnes Jewellers at Meneage Street was founded 128 years ago and has been trading in Helston for 104 years. It is run by Sarah Corbridge – the great granddaughter of its founder William Wearne – and her husband Adam. The pair recently announced their daughter, Bella, has made the decision to join the long-standing business.
Bella studied business before moving on to a diploma from the National Association of Jewellers and is currently halfway through the course with straight A’s. She has been busy updating and maintaining the business’s website and social medias as well as sending their Cornish Tin and Gold across the world.
Mr Corbridge said: “Two years ago we expanded into the adjoining premises next door which previously belonged to the family and Bella joining has given a link between the long history of the business and its exciting future.”
William Wearne opened the Helston shop in 1914 offering bespoke jewellery and watches. The independent business is renowned for offering jewellery commissions and remodelling family heirlooms to generations of families in the area.
Mrs Corbridge added: “Bella has spent her life learning about this industry and brings lots of ideas and enthusiasm to the shops.”
