Preparations are underway for an annual spectacle to march through the streets of Helston – the Freedom of Helston Parade.
On June 15 squadrons from RNAS Culdrose will exercise their right to march through the town with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating and flags flying. The parade is in recognition of the naval bases’ contribution to the town and in accordance with the grant of the Freedom of the Borough of Helston which was given in 1958.
Helston’s Town Mayor will inspect the parade before taking a salute at The Guildhall accompanied by the RNAS Culdrose Captain and members of the town council.
The parade starts at Trengrouse Way extension car park at 10am and the salute is taken in Coinagehall Street at 11am.
