Fundraisers celebrate 1st year in Helston

The Helston and Lizard Marie Curie Fundraising Group has held their first annual general meeting at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Chairman Margaret Riley thanked members for their support and hard work during the year and expressed her delight that £6,072 had been raised through Great Daffodil Appeal supermarket collections, collection tins in shops and the Christmas concert.

The money will fund more than 300 hours of Marie Curie nursing care in the community and will enable terminally ill patients to remain in their own homes.

The group are currently working on their next event, a Blooming Great Tea Party serving cream teas and cakes, to be held on Saturday July 9 from 2pm to 4pm at the Peter Boex Sculpture Garden at Trenear near Poldark Mine.
The group welcomes new members and invites those interested to contact the Cornwall Fundraising Office on 01872 260500.
