Free fun holiday sessions for local children

The Lizard C.H.I.L.D. Trust have been awarded a grant from Cornwall Council Wellbeing & Public Health Team to “Fill the Gap” for children who are eligible for free school meals.

They will receive a minimum of three sessions over the holidays where they will take part in shopping, cooking and cleaning up after meals. It has been recognized that whilst children are at school they are in receipt of a healthy balanced meal, during the summer holidays this puts additional difficult financial hardship on families.

The scheme will provide free enrichment activities for children and their families by providing workshops to make props and costumes for their float at this year’s Helston Carnival which will be held on Saturday, September 7. The Trust will have a walking float where all the children, parents, staff and friends of the Trust dress up, dance, make music and have fun parading through the streets of Helston.

There is a varied programme over the holidays at their Chameleon Holiday Club, so if your child is eligible for free school meals, get in touch by phone on 01326 573338 or e-mail quoting Fill the Gap Funding. Places are limited so book now.
