Hundreds of people are expected gather in Helston to kick off the festive season and watch the Christmas lights being switched on.
Coinagehall Street will be packed with people who turn out to join in the countdown and see the lights burst into colour on Friday, followed by a fireworks display.
The festivities are just beginning of the season with plenty of events planned for coming weeks. This weekend Flambards theme park will host a Christmas Fayre from 10am to 4pm, with Santa and Helston’s Town Band on hand to help get visitors into the Christmas Spirit.
A festive family fun night will take place in the town on December 9, with music and market stalls, fun rides, Santa’s grotto and a children’s lantern parade from 5pm to 8.30pm. A host of shops will open their doors later than usual to give plenty of opportunity for shoppers to snap-up Christmas presents.
Santa and his reindeer will be on hand to greet families by Grylls Monument on Friday December 15 from 5pm to 7pm.
