Controversial Cross Street traffic trial ends prematurely

A road traffic trial in Helston has ended two weeks earlier than expected which follows objections by residents and less than favourable publicity on social media and in local publications.

The temporary measures preventing vehicles turning right from Penhellaz Hill onto the (A394) Helston to Penzance road or from turning left onto St John’s Bridge from the Penzance direction had been scheduled to last for six weeks.

The trial began on June 14 and was scheduled to last until July 26 however council workman were this morning removing the signage warning of the restrictions on the approach to the junction.

All traces of the trial had disappeared by mid afternoon but when contacted, the council were not able to give the reason for why it had been halted prematurely.
