Commander returns to his Helston roots

A familiar face has made a welcome return to RNAS Culdrose to take charge of the Air Engineering Department.

Commander Steven Skittrall was born and went to school in Helston before joining the Royal Navy in 1993.

He has now returned to his roots to help oversee aircraft engineering support of two new aircraft carriers – HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.

He said: “It’s the best job I could have been given, I am so chuffed to be back leading the engineering team here at Culdrose.”

The married father-of-three said he was also looking forward to pursuing his love of fishing and kayaking along the coastline.
