Colts league and cup double

HELSTON RFC are celebrating after their Colts team won the Cornwall Cup for the first time to complete a league and cup double.

They triumphed with an 8-7 victory over St Austell with a Dan Duval penalty and Ben Richards try proving decisive in the final at Wadebridge Camels.

They had not fielded a Colts team for three seasons until revived last year under coach Paul Duval and mixed fortunes against older opponents seemed to enable the team to mature and they were the dominant side this season.

Having played 17 matches this season, they were unbeaten in the league and cup, with their only defeats coming in a friendly against Redruth and a tour fixture against Weston Hornets.
