Surfers Against Sewage are calling out for volunteer litter pickers to join them for an annual beach clean event in Porthleven.
The Big Spring Beach Clean event takes place on Sunday from 10am to 12pm and aims to clean up beaches and recycle single-use or ‘throwaway’ plastics that are littering the coastline.
More than 400 Big Spring Beach Cleans are set to take place across the UK from April 3 to 9 and will involve thousands of volunteers aiming to collect over 50,000 plastic bottles from beaches.
A Surfers Against Sewage spokesperson said: “2016 was the biggest year for Surfers Against Sewage beach cleans with 946 beach cleans taking place across the UK, mobilising 19,500 volunteers and removing 64 tonnes of marine litter from our coastline. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve these successes without your help, support and passion.”
Volunteers will meet at the slipway in Porthleven Harbour.
