Author embraces technology for children’s book

An author from Helston has released his debut children’s book with a little help from social media.

Natalie’s Fiendish New Headteacher by Terry Lander follows the students of the fictional Crowntown Community College as it is taken over by a suspicious figure.

While searching for an illustrator for the book, the author used Twitter to contact popular cartoonist Kent Tayler, who has seen his work published in Private Eye and Prospect magazines and the two agreed to work together on the tale.

Mr Lander said: “I was incredibly excited to have Kent involved as I’ve followed his work for a long time and I knew his illustration style would work so well in the book. The finished article is so much better than I ever imagined and looks incredible.”

The book is available in bookstores and online via Waterstones and Amazon priced at £6.99. A Kindle version is also available for £2.99.
