A foodies fantasy

PORTHLEVEN is renowned for its varied cuisine with one restaurant helping the village to gain national fame.

Kota at the harbour head is surrounded by several destination eateries which, along with the popular annual Porthleven Food Festival, has transformed this idyllic fishing port into a foodie’s heaven.

Jude Kereama, chef and owner of the well-established restaurant has appeared on the popular BBC television show Great British Menu for the last two years.

The series showcases the imagination and skills of acclaimed chefs competing to present one of their dishes on the menu of a lavish banquet.

Jude recently hosted a Great British Menu themed evening along with fellow TV chefs Chris Wheeler and Michelin-starred Josh Eggleton and I jumped at the opportunity to sample the cuisine.

For me, the dish of the night was Jude’s dessert – a play on the traditional Eton Mess with macaroons, strawberries, chocolate mint and mint shards.

Like many of you, I have eaten in some amazing restaurants in different continents but none have matched what is on offer right here on our own doorstep.
